Born in North Carolina, Chad Griffin grew up in the desert Southwest. He earned his Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona. Griffin has spent his life as an explorer and a visual artist, periodically leaving for months at a time to mountaineer and travel in as diverse climes as New Zealand, Alaska, North Africa, Patagonia and the Andes. Currently he lives and works in Manhattan.
Griffin uses form, color and painted words in his artwork to invoke thought and to mythologize life in the modern world. He has had shows of his paintings, produced several books, been a featured artist in the Point Suite Contemporary Art book and worked in advertising and design direction.
Griffin is equally fluent with technology and the traditional tools of the artist. He believes that modernity has hit a tipping point and that the revival of the hand of the artist in the work has returned to the dialog.
